Reflection Bay Hosts the Wendys Three Tour Challenge

The Wendy's Three Tour Challenge is a staple of golf in Las Vegas during the month of November. This year the tournament was held on November 13th and some of the best players from the PGA, Champions and LPGA Tours competed against each other for a $1 million purse and bragging rights for the next year. The teams were composed of the following players:

PGA / Champions / LPGA

Chris Di Marco / Nick Price / Natalie Gulbis

Camilo Villegas / Fred Funk / Cristie Kerr

Bubba Watson / Jay Haas / Morgan Pressel

This tournament annually benefits the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption. This organization was founded in 1992 and has a mission to make sure that every child in the adoption system has a home. The money raised helps to increase foster care programs as well as support model adoption programs.

This year the tournament was once again held at the Reflection Bay Golf Club located at the Lake Las Vegas Resort. Reflection Bay, Southshore and The Falls Golf Clubs were all used during the course of this tournament. There were four days of golf starting on Saturday, Nov 10th and culminating on Tues, Nov. 13th. The main challenge was held on Tuesday and was contested at Reflection Bay.

Prior to the golf tournament, the golf course was overseeded and was limited to cart path only. During the tournament the golf course lifted the cart path only restrictions and opened the golf course to the 90 degree rule. Reflection Bay was designed by Jack Nicklaus and is one of the most demanding golf courses in Las Vegas.

The golf course is designed around deep canyons, desert areas and Lake Las Vegas. Several of the holes front the lake, including the impressive 17th hole par-3 that has a green surrounded by water. Typical of most Nicklaus-designed golf courses, Reflection Bay has generous fairways and large greens.

This time of year is a great time to play this golf course when it is in tip-top condition. Reflection Bay prides itself on keeping this golf course in superb condition year-round, but conditions will never be better than right after this tournament. The Lake Las Vegas Resort is only about 35 minutes from the Las Vegas Strip and well worth the drive.
