Each year, conventions play a large part in visitor numbers to Las Vegas. With convention visitor numbers increasing each year, it's no wonder, Bear's Best Golf Club was built specifically to attract them. This is a great Las Vegas golf course for a corporate golf outing or convention groups. Bear's Best was designed by Jack Nicklaus and replicates holes that can be found on some of the more than 200 golf courses he has designed. The concept was to bring holes from different parts of the country and assemble them in one place. Bear's Best Golf Club is located near Summerlin about 30 minutes from the Las Vegas Strip. Las Vegas Golf Adventures, offers services to accommodate 16 to 144+ golf groups, to include, golf tournament services, travel and hotel accommodations, post award banquets and more, be sure to request Bear's Best when planning your next large golf group outing.
As you play Bear's Best, you will notice that holes come from various locations such as Arizona, Colorado, California and Montana. This diverse collection of holes will keep the player interested and allow them to play holes they may not normally have a chance to experience.
The holes have been faithfully recreated as close as possible to the original design, though it is quite difficult to emulate the mountains of Colorado in the valley of Las Vegas. One of the most impressive holes on the golf course is the par-3 4th hole. This hole was originally designed at the Old Works Golf Club in Anaconda, Montana. This hole measures 225 yards from the back tee but the green is fairly large.
Surrounding this green are bunkers filled with the same black sand that can be found on the Old Works Golf Club. This is a by-product of the smelting process that used to take place on the site of the Old Works Golf Club. This sand was specially flown in to Las Vegas to accurately recreate this hole in the best possible detail.
The staff at Bear's Best Golf Club takes pride in the condition of the golf course. The fairways are in great shape and provide lots of roll that will greatly reduce the length of the golf course. The greens at Bear's Best are consistently some of the best of all golf courses in Las Vegas. These greens are large and undulating, typically of most Jack Nicklaus designed golf courses. The 18th hole at Bear's Best was taken from the PGA West Resort Course in La Quinta, California. This is a strong finishing hole with most of the danger coming on the approach shot to the green. Once again the landing area from the tee is fairly large and driver is needed off this tee to have a chance at reaching the green in regulation. From the back tee this hole measures 450 yards but the fairway will provide some extra roll. Be careful of the bunkers and water that border the right hand side of the fairway.
The approach shot to the green is tricky as there is a water hazard on the front right side of the green. Any shot hit short will face a watery grave unless you are lucky enough to find one of the safety bunkers around the green. This green has several tiers so be sure to check the pin location.
If your day didn't go quite as planned you can spend some time on their large practice area. The driving range is large and has ample room for practice. Shots are hit up a hill and there are several targets positioned on the range at various distances. The practice facility also features a large putting green and a chipping and sand area. This is a great place to work out those kinks before your next round.
Located on site are a restaurant and banquet facilities. If you are having a corporate outing or need space for a dinner or reception, this would be the perfect place to play. Contact the restaurant to find out what services they will be able to offer you.
